This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a preschool room in a low-income school district. My students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I strive to provide them with a fun, interactive, safe, and meaningful learning environment. As their teacher, I try to instill the importance of communicating with and listening to one another, being a good citizen and leader, and using trauma-informed techniques to aid them in their social-emotional development.
My students have various learning styles, backgrounds, and needs.
Due to our inner-city location, funding is extremely hard to come by. In order to provide my students with the best learning experiences I can give them, I typically find ways to procure these items and experiences out-of-pocket or by any means I can which is where DonorsChoose.org comes in.
My Project
Currently, our school is using a hybrid learning method with virtual learning days in the mix one day a week. At the present time, the school is open on virtual learning days for teachers to use their classrooms. Having the ability to be in the building allows me to teach completely with my own materials and still have access to technology in my room to create things students may need. However, should our school go fully remote, we will not have access to classrooms and our classroom supplies.
This project is for a mobile printer to use for remote learning and creating visuals to use during remote learning.
This mobile printer will be easily accessible no matter where our classroom is and will allow us to create visuals for virtual lessons and other items for students that may be needed during remote learning.
