Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are busy bees! They work hard all day long, without a moment to spare!

Our school has a large (800+) and quite diverse population.

Our students are high poverty, with most participating in the free and/or reduced breakfast and lunch program. Many of our students need rich, literacy experiences to make the gains necessary for success.

My Project

During small guided reading groups the students are engaged in meaningful literacy stations. The students will thrill at the opportunity to listen to their own choice of book on CD (some the beloved Dr. Seuss), operating their own CD player (following operational steps), while resting comfortably on a soft seat cushion!

I'm excited that students will get to sit comfortably while enjoying the book of their own choice on CD.

The individual CD players and headphones will make this possible. Dr. Seuss stories are classics that are always popular with the six and seven year old children! The seat cushions are 15 inches in diameter, making them the perfect size for first grade students.
