I teach art to every student in our building of 460 students in a Title I public school in northeast New Jersey. This includes Pre-Kindergarten through eighth-grade classes, including bilingual students and self-contained special needs. All of our students receive free breakfast and many receive free lunch. The classroom and materials provided are carefully chosen, positioned and organized to attract all learners and promote the curriculum content goals.

I try to provide my students with artistic experiences that they have never experienced before. Our goal is to guide them in a classroom where many of the lessons have a theme of tolerance, peace, and embracing diversity. These experiences help young people develop the creative and critical-thinking skills necessary to succeed in our rapidly changing world.
My Project
Students waste many sheets of paper when they draw a sketch before they get to the good paper for a lesson.
By having each student have their own mini whiteboard they will ultimately help the environment by not wasting so much paper.
The dry erase boards will allow the students to make mistakes during the planning stage and erase them easily all using the same board. Students will become more confident in their drawing abilities knowing they can plan and erase their mistakes so easily before getting to the paper. The students will be able to use the dry erase markers and crayons to plan out a color scheme for their drawings.
