My students need the kids around the world for diversity in the room. They will greatly benefit from all the literacy, mathematics and science kits/tools on our journey for getting ready for Kindergarten!
My students are an exceptional group of kids. They are all enrolled in Head Start which is a free preschool that serves high-risk/ low income children. Head Start provides free breakfast, lunch and snack to the students enrolled.
They are all from many different cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
We have students who are in foster/adoptive care, single parent house holds, kinship care, and some who are from different countries around the wold.
16/18 of my the children in this class will be new students in my class! This will be some of their first experiences with school and I would love to make sure to set them on the right path with a positive outlook of school! With being high risk/low income some of these children have been in/currently in traumatic situations. One of my goals is to give these children's coping mechanisms they can continue to use later in life. Though I know I cannot shelter them from the world, I hope to give them skills to take with them to handle the world on their own!
The children in my class will greatly benefit from the materials listed in my project. At 3-5 children's minds are still so open to exploration. This school year it is my goal to expand their little minds even more.
I want to give the children materials to explore without limits.
They will use the dominos and science experiment kit to enhance their problem solving skills. Being high risk/low income some of the children in my class are not getting the same exposure to learning as other children their age.
I would like to help them go into Kindergarten with the same love for learning as their peers.
