Hello! I am a second-year teacher in Texas. This year I have the honor of teaching 8th grade math. I teach a diverse group of students that include English as a second language as well as inclusion classes. In order to enhance the learning environment for my students, I am seeking funds to purchase white-board materials, markers, and additional writing materials. With these materials I am hoping that students will be able to utilize different skill sets so I can have a more inclusive classroom.
With Math, many students need to be able to visualize and practice the equations to adequately master mathematic skills.
With traditional pen and paper, the repetitive process of writing on paper can be exhausting and numbing for students. With white boards, and fun-colored markers students are able to collaborate and have a larger surface to view and master these skills on. The white boards will help students that require a more kinesthetic and visual learning style understand and fully grasp difficult concepts as they are able to have a more hands-on approach. Many of my students need additional instruction in the classroom. Having these additional supplies would help me better serve them as an instructor, and help make a lasting impact as they finish middle school and start their journey into High School.
