Making a Great Morning Choice

My Students

This is my eighth year teaching and my first year in third grade! I have about 24 students this year that learn in so many different ways! Our school has about 200 students from pre-k to third grade. Many students do not have the opportunity to read outside of the classroom but come in eager to read and explore. They also have meaningful discussions often about the world around them.

I am proud to be able to teach such wonderful Washington Winners in my building!

My Project

This summer I attended a conference that discussed the importance of Morning Choice bins in the classroom. Morning Choice allows students to think critically, challenge themselves, and work with others. Data shows that when students come in to school and get to work together in Morning Choice, attendance improves and office referrals decline. This is incredibly important because students will be engaged and want to come to school if they know they can start the day off well.

I would love for my students to have these STEM building toys and sets in their Morning Choice bins.

Any help would be greatly appreciated toward this project.
