I teach 8th graders in a suburban school in Queens, New York. I have 165 students that range from advanced students that take the Living Environment Regents course for high school credit, to general education classes that take General Science. In the general science classes, there are high performing students, English Language learners, and students with special needs that are in an ICT setting where there is a special education teacher that co-teaches with me to help all students achieve.

My Project
With all that is going on with our planet, from wildfires in Australia, to plastics in our ocean, it is more imperative than ever to have our youth help solve the problems that human impact has had on our environment.
My curriculum includes a project-based learning project where students choose a project that must come up with a possible solution to improve the environment.
The tools that I am requesting will help them come up with ideas as they experiment and learn about ways that they can make positive impacts in real-life applications. The water testing quality kit will help support experimentation of local bodies of water. The eco-structure building kits will have students thinking about natural resources, recycling, land use, and human population growth.
