Making a Difference Community Service

Help me give my students protective gloves to protect their skin while working in the Untermyer Garden Conservancy. Each student will receive his or her own gloves so that they can volunteer working in the garden.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Students in grades 9 - 12 will serve their community by volunteering at the Untermyer Garden Conservancy. The students are participating in a project called "Making a Difference". The project allows students to understand the responsibility and benefit of doing things that improve their community.

The students will use the gloves that I have requested to remove unwanted debris, weeds, invasive (alien) species and to plant seeds at the Untermyer Garden Conservancy.

This will be a first time experience of hands-on work with horticulture for many of the students. This experience will offer the students options with regards to future endeavors.
