This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are bright and energetic. They are demographically and economically disadvantaged. Our school is located in an urban community and is considered high-poverty and every student in my school receives free breakfast and lunch. Some students participate in a weekend backpack program where students get a backpack full of food donated to our school.
My school is a STEAM school focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Applied Arts, and Mathematics.
Our lessons are focused around integrating those aspects into each lesson.
My Project
Science is an integral part of student learning and incorporating Makey Makey is an exciting way for students to engage in applying their knowledge of electricity, mathematics, and exploration into the world. The Makey Makey will provide a virtual and real world exploration that requires students to make complete circuits conductors and completely in line with our 4th grade SOL skills and expands to our exploration of design. The 36” alligator clips and copper foil tape will give the students the length they need to experiment with.
The Makey Makey will assist students creativity in unlimited ways!
The Makey Makey project books will provide a beginning level of support for their minds.
The microscopes will help students see what they cannot see with their naked eye. How excited to incorporate microscopes into cross-curricular learning of mathematics, science, and reading! The slides are just the start for more exploration and enticement the students need to grow their scientific mind.
