Makey Makey Exploratory Fun For GT Students

My students need 10 Makey Makey kits in order to participate in exploratory activities for creative GT students.

  • $632 goal

This project expired on June 25, 2014.

Hooray! This project is fully funded

My Students

There is no typical day in my classroom. I pull GT students in grades 1-5 (each group separately) for 90 minutes per week. We engage in hands on activities that will spark creativity and critical thinking skills. I love my job!

I have about 93 GT students at two different school.

My group of students are eager to learn. Each class period I try to engage them in thinking activities that will help them for their future. My students are very eager to learn something new each day. Unfortunately my budget does not allow me to add new things every year without assistance.

My Project

Maky Makey is a product invented by two MIT graduate students that believes everyone is an inventor. Once the kits are purchased, students will watch videos of how Makey Makey has been used by other people. Students will replicate a project found in the project section of the website Then students will be asked to bring supplies from home to create an original Makey Makey project. We will then tape students trying out the original projects. Hopefully this will spark creativity and risk taking skills needed for GT students.

Students need to prepare for the future.

Some of their jobs are not even invented yet. We need to expose students to creative outlets. When students are exposed to innovation, hopefully they will transfer those skills to their life.
