My Students

WHS students are wonderful young people who are excited about learning! Ours is a small, rural community and doesn't have access to the resources that may be available in districts located in large cities. As district librarian, I want to offer learning opportunities that are engaging and that support students in being successful. I love seeing students discover new things and get excited about learning. I need to be prepared as a library media specialist so I can effectively meet their needs and support them in achieving their goals.

My Project

Maker Educator Bootcamp will allow me to grow professionally and to bring new engaging activities back to my school library media center. At this time, the HS library has only traditional, print books to offer. The books are not circulating and the library is not attracting students.

I want to liven up the library and take it from drab to fab!

Through this professional development I will learn skills in hands-on engineering and design challenges, accessible digital manufacturing, micro-conrollers and electronics. My goal is to bring what I learn back to school and share it with our students. I want to provide them with engaging activities in design, problem-solving and basic prototyping learning and activities. These experiences will support our students success in high school as well as on into college.
