Help me give my students a Cricut cutting system and Heat Press for our Makerspace.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My school has over 1300 students in grades 6-8 in a suburban area of Baltimore County. Our student body is very socioeconomically and ethnically diverse and includes students in shelters and transitional housing. Many students lack resources at home necessary to complete project-based learning.
We have active participation in project-based learning and are looking to grow our Library Makerspace.
Our creative students would benefit from access to current technology that allows them to design professional looking products. Giving students the opportunity to create materials that support their learning, while in school, levels the socioeconomic "playing field" for all learners.
Our school has limited funding for our extracurricular activities and library Makerspace.
If students had access to a Cricut cutting system and Cricut Heat Press, they would be able to create displays and project that support their instruction and explore their creativity.
A cutting system would allow students who lack resources at home to make displays for schools projects, such as National History Day, in which all of our students participate. Students from all clubs can make signage, posters and other products to promote the goals of their clubs. The Heat Press would allow students to make inexpensive apparel for their club and for club-related field trips.
