Help me give my students a fulfilling Makerspace experience. Students will enjoy learning about science, technology, and engineering using KNEX construction materials, Cubelets robots, and a drone.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The media center at our school serves every student in the building. They come in each week for a planned 45 minute session, as well as, visiting on their own as needed. The students are adventurous, hands-on, and have a sense of wonder that makes everyday a fantastic journey with them.
They enjoy learning by doing; being able to fully immerse themselves into hands-on educational experiences.
Living in an area with high poverty, many students do not have access to new technologies and educational materials except when they are at school. That fact makes it so important to offer rich, engaging opportunities while they are here.
My Project
Educating children is all about learning what makes them tick and playing to those strengths. My students love to use their hands and technology. Currently, we do not have the gadgets needed to create an effective Makerspace in the media center.
Having materials like KNEX, a drone, and Cubelet robots will allow students to enjoy STEM activities and learn about engineering and technology in a truly hands-on way.
Students will be able to learn about technologies that they have never experienced before. The media center is working towards having a STEM cart full of materials for students to build, create, and explore the world in a new way.
