The students in my gifted classes are very inquisitive and eager to learn. I want to give my students experience in the world of creating and engineering and to give them the tools to create and learn through problem solving and creativity.
My students come from a Title One school with a high population of English learners.
My students are fun, hardworking, bright, young individuals. They attend school each and everyday, ready to learn. My students love a challenge!
The students in my class love using the Makerspace I have provided for them. It's had a significant impact on student learning and development. My students can't wait to get to class each day and create something new using the Makerspace materials. Unfortunately, our Makerspace is running out of materials! Therefore, I am asking for donors to help replenish the supplies needed so that these students can continue to be active creators and innovators.
My Project
Makerspaces, are flexible, adaptable learning environments that can address differentiation and multiple intelligences, and modifying the educational experience for those who learn differently. These makerspace supplies give my students hands-on learning through the sort of rich projects advocated by today's leaders and offers flexible opportunities for students to learn in their personal style or styles.
The students in my classroom need this uniquely adaptable, learning environment so they can flourish.
The supplies donated to our Makerspace provide a connection between lessons and the Real World.
Makerspaces can create a more realistic environment that reflects how professionals approach their work. The point of school is to inspire curiosity and interest in learning more, and that is exactly what a makerspace does. Problem-solving is an invaluable skill that tends to get lost amid memorization and grades. The materials in my classroom Makerspace give students a way to see how problems can be solved and encourages them to find ways to solve issues in a way that they would not see on paper.
