My Students

Our school serves students in grades 5 through 8 and provides rigorous instruction, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment for all learners. We work in organized professional learning communities to continually improve instruction and provide the best opportunities for all of our students.

We analyze data to improve and enhance instruction in reading, writing, and other content areas.

This year we added one-to-one Chromebooks for all students. However, we also want our students to have opportunities to connect, create, and construct with their hands.

The students at my school are creative, engaged learners. This year I added a Makers' Space in the library for students in grades 5 through 8 to build, create, connect, and construct. Through donations, we have gathered many Legos; however, we need a storage area for our new space,

My Project

I would like to add storage to the MakerSpace I added to our library so we can keep our donated Legos and other building materials neat and tidy. Students are currently using the space, but these products will help us organize and maintain it.

The MakerSpace is already a popular place in the library, and I am continuing to look for funding to develop and add to the space for our students.

Students have said that building with the Legos is a stress reliever for them. This is an added benefit that I hadn't even considered when I first created this space in our library. Growing this space and adding new elements will be a priority as the year continues.
