Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an amazing group of students. They all work very hard and enjoy coming to school. I have both kindergarten and first graders. They loop with me for two years. It is also an inclusion classroom where all students learn core curriculum in the classroom. We are a charter school that does not use textbooks but teaches through real-world experiences and individualized instruction.
I have a diverse class where everyone is an individual and excepts each other's differences.
They support each other every day academically and socially. They all care about each other and we are a big family.
My Project
The project I am proposing is to create a state of the art Makerspace right in my classroom. Students would not only be able to create using recycled material but also create and build using Knex and 3D pens! I want students to feel comfortable with basic circuits and will use the circuits for beginners as well as make circuit cards. I want students to solve problems in the classroom/school by designing real objects! The options are endless once students start creating.
I want to create an environment where students are excited to engineer, create, and problem solve.
STEAM is using the Next Generation science standards to have students use their knowledge in real-world application. My main goal is the get students excited about science and technology!
