My Students

Every day, I am surrounded by the most amazing students who have immigrated to this school from many countries. If I could describe them, five characteristics really stand out. They are hard-working, imaginative, supporting, explorers and most of all, a community. Students in my class have ownership of their own learning, by working together their learning happens organically. No matter the obstacle, my students have the thrive and hard-work ethic to explore solutions to the task at hand.

My students are from a low-income community and more than 90 percent of them get free or reduced lunch.

It is a great community from different walks of life. No matter the tedious challenges they face they strive to be the best they can be every day. I have been blessed with such an amazing set of young adults.

My Project

Students are becoming very invested in Coding with LEGO Mindstorms. It is a time where their imagination can thrive where they become the creator of their own education. Imagine students sitting in a chair all day, students who are hyperactive and with ADHD. Being one of those students back in my day I experienced how hard it can be to stay still in one place for a whole sixty minute block. This is why I am creating a makerspace and need a motion friendly seating arrangement where students can go to program and build.

I'm requesting eight Flash Furniture swivel task chairs.

These chairs will make a difference by allowing students an option, other than traditional seating, that can allow them to better focus on class and group activities.
