This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My curious, motivated, and inspiring students are eager to learn! My school qualifies for universal free breakfast and lunch due to our 90% free or reduced-price lunch status. Our students and their families live in an economically disadvantaged community. My first graders and I are part of a 4 classroom team which will loop together through second grade. Over the course of two years, my students and my teacher colleagues and I will have countless opportunities to learn from each other.
Our class motto is We never, never, never, never, never give up!
This means we all work together, ask questions, and think hard every day.
My inspiring and inspired students appreciate the generosity of donors who help us obtain the resources we need.
My Project
My students really enjoy hands on activities. We've got a classroom collection of manipulatives such as dominoes, plastic cups, Legos, foam bricks and Magnatiles. These are popular activities during our weekly Friday Fun sessions. My scholars enjoy building towers and houses and bridges and rockets and are pleased to pose for pictures with their innovative designs.
The materials in these 16 STEM bins will provide even more opportunities for these future scientists, engineers, artists, doctors and designers to create, cooperate and learn from each other.
The fact that these STEM materials are sold in a set of matching bins means it will be easy for my students to grab a bin and begin creating.
