I teach in a small town where I actually grew up and currently live. This community and school hold such a special place in my heart. The students at our school come from low income families where we send home food for the weekend or long break to ensure three meals a day for our students. On the other hand- we also have some amazing students from amazing families who go above and beyond to help in the classroom and school. Our students come to school everyday excited and ready to learn!
My Project
For this project, I am asking for materials to use for a Makerspace station as well as headphones to use during our Technology station. A MAKERSPACE station in my classroom would consist of materials for my students to have access to during Must Do/May Do time every afternoon. With these materials, students are encouraged to explore, design, invent, and create things on their own. Every afternoon, I read with reading groups and the students are completing journals and assignments for Must Do. When finished, they have a chance to pick a May Do station. One of these May Do stations would include the Makerspace station and a Technology station (headphones). In this station, students will use playdoh, Lego's, foam blocks, popsicle sticks, paper plates, etc to create, invent, design or construct different things. Students will use these materials and their creativity to think outside the box!
