I teach all day kindergarten in a diverse public school. My students learn all subjects including life studies (science and social studies), English language arts, and math.
My kindergarten students are excited about school and so eager to learn.
It's important to have different materials to meet their learning needs! We have many hands-on experiences and like to move a lot!
I love that as a kindergarten teacher I get to be the one to introduce my students to the world of school and set the foundation for their learning. Their first year in school has the potential to impact how they view learning. It's important to me to make their first year a positive one!
My Project
I want to give my kindergarten students a STEM solution that is a creative and developmentally appropriate form of engineering! STEM stands for Science Technology Engineering and Math. I'd like to create Build It Bins or Maker Bins with materials in this project and existing materials in my classroom.
Every year, my students love to use their imagination to design, construct, and create!
Additionally, we work on their reading and writing skills by writing about what they have created. The only thing missing are enough materials to let students explore this way of learning more often! These bins would allow students to think inventively & imaginatively, solve problems with specified constraints, build creative designs, and so much more!
