"If we were all the same, only one of us would be necessary."
My classroom is guided by this statement as we work each day to celebrate our differences to make us all better learners.
My classroom is made of up thirty unique diverse learners attending a project based school in San Francisco.
Our school is a warm place which tries hard to enrich the learning needs of our non traditional students. Technology is where our gap truly is. Our tools don't match what is really being used. I want all my students to be aware of the world they will be entering in the future. This will plant the seeds of opportunity for them.
With a MakerBot printer, there will be a place for all students to demonstrate their knowledge successfully in an academic setting. I will be able to become a teacher that can actively incorporate a multi-sensory teaching approach allowing my visual, spatial, and kinesthetic learners to shine in the classroom in ways that come naturally to them.
There are so many spatial learners in my classroom who struggle to be successful.
They patiently wait through the school day so they can run home, take out their Legos, and really feel at peace. With a 3D printer in the classroom, their natural strengths would be an active part of our school environment.
