My students need Maker Station replenishments. They have used up all of their rainbow loom and duct tape. They also requested new games and new base plates to build their LEGO creations.
The students at CS School are tomorrow's engineers! Our school is focused on the STEM Model and have dedicated days each month where we do STEM activities. Our students know that they are preparing for futuristic skills in jobs that do not even exist yet. In 4th-grade students switch classes for ELA, Math, and Science/SS. They also have an RTI elective period where they get to choose a topic of interest while students receive individualized intervention as needed.
The student's who come to my class begin the year thinking they are just fulfilling their math needs for the 4th grade but in reality they are learning to problem solve, engineer, create, explore, and justify their thinking.
My students walk out excited and confident with their ability to attack any problem!
My Project
My students are already deep in to their love of learning through STEM and the engineer process. They spend time each day asking questions, imagining solutions, planning an answer, creating models and designs to see if their planning worked, improving their designs and growing in their thinking.
The strategies they learn through the engineer process allows them advantages in problem solving and mathematical thinking.
They will use these skills in any type of job that will come along in the future. They need replenishment of the consumable items that they love to build with. They also need more logic games to help build their thinking skills. This project will allow more materials and activities to help strengthen each students learning this year and next!
