My Students

My students are gifted and talented; they excel academically despite being in one of the most economically-challenged zones in an otherwise affluent district.

I model a growth mindset for these future teachers, doctors, engineers, lawyers, and politicians.

They strive to reach higher levels of success in a school building that is the oldest and most overlooked in our district. These students need an environment that's as responsive and unique as they are; flexible seating is a great start for us!

My Project

Our classroom is in a portable in the back of the school with very little storage capabilities. My students need more shelves to create a fantastic Maker Space in the large room we have.

Organizing materials helps create mathematical awareness as well as provides a learning environment more conducive to creative thinking and problem solving.

Being able to store all of our "maker" supplies in one area of the room will allow my students to be more adventurous and allow me to create meaningful learning tasks associated with our themes. My students will be directly involved with deciding how to categorize and organize their materials on the new shelves in our Maker Space!
