I teach a classroom of 2nd graders. That means I have 26 seven and eight-year-old kids in a room with me all day, and I love it! Each one of my students is unique, curious, energetic and precious.
In our classroom I work hard to teach not just reading, writing and math but also to show my kids the value of taking risks, finding their own solutions and making good decisions for themselves.
These kids make my job incredibly rewarding. It is an honor and a challenge to work with them and help them learn and grow every day.
My Project
In our classroom, students are trusted to work wherever they choose throughout the day in our flexible seating classroom. Recently I got rid of my teacher desk and consolidated some big tables.
I asked the kids how we should use the new space in our classroom and this is their dream design.
It includes buying 3 more wobble stools (we already have 1 that we love), some bean bag chairs to go in the corner, and a couch to go where my desk used to be.
My students thrive with the opportunity to work in a flexible and comfortable environment. I look forward to being able to add to our classroom seating options.
