My students need highlighters to accent what they are reading to be aware of the 6 different reading comprehension strategies they're learning.

I believe every child can learn when they have teachers willing to teach. My students live in a rural area and are considered high-need.

I teach 40 5th graders. Only 5 of them are reading at grade level. My students are lacking in reading comprehension skills.

In the beginning of the year, I only had 1 student reading at grade level. They are all improving. With these highlighters, I will like to color-code the reading comprehension strategies for the students so that they may accent what they are reading to be aware of the comprehension strategy that they are using. They know how to put the letters together, but not the words. Using highlighters will visually, and kinesthetically help them to be aware that reading is a process.

Thank you for helping my students take a huge step to literacy by helping them to understand what they are reading.
