I am an RTI2 interventionist and I work with students that are struggling academically in reading and math. Struggling learners are provided with interventions at increasing levels of intensity to accelerate their rate of learning. My students need extra support in order to glow and grow in the classroom. These students work well in small group settings and they are more attentive and hands on in this type of setting. They also tend to learn better as well. These students are identified through universal screener that is given to them three times a year and the screener covers grade level skills. Educational decisions about the intensity and duration of interventions are based on individual student response to instruction. Intervention is designed for use when making decisions in both general education and special education, creating a well-integrated system of instruction and intervention guided by child outcome data. Therefore, we need extra tools in the classroom in order to better assist these students, so they can achieve at the pace of their same aged peers.
I have learned through teaching virtually that one must have a reliable and up to date device. I currently use my school device and I think it is on its last leg because it has not been working properly. It freezes up, doesn't keep a good charge, and it goes out from time to time. How can one be successful in virtual learning with these issues. Also, I have learned that two devices are needed to be more effective when working with a class. This allows for one computer to be a monitor tool while students are working in small groups or in breakout rooms, and the other can be the teaching tool. Technology in the classroom is the way to successful teaching and learning during this pandemic. It allows for effective teaching to take place. Being able to share experiences through the world wide web makes the learning fun and effective. Students can benefit from virtual field trips, access different interactive activities, and be able to share research-based information to help support the lesson.
