My Students
What I love most about my students are even though they come from some hard situations, they have the most kind and caring hearts and are so willing to learn. If you establish a positive and caring relationship with them, they will do everything in their power to work hard for you.
A lot of them struggle in reading, whether it is due to language barriers or not, by not having access to materials at home.
However, this does not stop them or discourage them from being better at school!
My Project
My students would benefit from this project by providing them a fun and inviting space to read in with bean bags chairs, a carpet floor mat, and wall art. As well, it will be providing them a variety of books to read from. Unfortunately, coming from a Title I school and a school that has been around over 50 years, the building is old and a majority of the books are passed down, old, and outdated; my students just have a hard time relating to or being interested in them. Third grade is such an important year for them due to testing. If they learn to love reading, it will only make passing 3rd grade easier. Help me bring and find that love for reading in my students.
