Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach music to students from ages 11 to 14. Every school year is completely different, and that is why I am in love with my profession. I feel so blessed and grateful every time that I am with my students, sharing with them all I know. What I like most about them is their enthusiasm every time we make music together: they love to perform and share with their family and friends what they can do. I love seeing them grow musically!
My Project
In the last two years, I have been teaching my middle school students ukulele, guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums. Currently, I have in my music program Rock/Pop Bands, which we have been successfully performing activities and events in our school.
This school year my goal is to introduce wind instruments into my music program.
I want to give new opportunities to my students with the vision to have a Big Band in the future.
I would like to start by adding base instruments like the trumpet, trombone, saxophone, flute, and clarinet to our band. I am so happy because every year I have more students joining my class that is why I want to enrich the music program at my school.
