My Students

I have a classroom of 24 low to middle income third grade students. Many of the students are not currently meeting grade level expectations. They are all capable of meeting those expectations with that extra little push that I hope to give them each and every day.

While the students in my class came in below grade level, through the first two months of school we have seen immense improvement in their achievement levels.

This has been obtained through the use of multiple teaching strategies that include: center based learning, project based learning, direct instruction, and even an attempted use of alternative seating.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will benefit my students greatly. I have already bought some nontraditional seating items such as bean bags, carpet squares, and stools so that my students will have some options on where to sit and what they want to sit on to help them focus throughout the school day. The wobble stools, FitPro seats, and FitBall Discs will help to give the students a wider variety of alternative seating to improve their focus in the classroom.

As I continue to try to transition to a nontraditional seating style classroom, I need access to more alternative seating so that everychild has an option for what will help them reach their fullest potential.

I am currently in the process of getting tables and bookshelves for my classroom instead of desks. Once we have removed the desks the students will be able to sit wherever they want as long as it will help them complete their work.

The children learn much more effectively when they are comfortable in the classroom and will appreciate anything and everything we receive. Thank you so much in advance!
