Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a low-income title 1 school. Families struggle to provide their children with what they need, let alone provide me with school supplies. I want to make each child's transition into school a successful and easy. Many of my students come to Kindergarten with little or no English language skills. Even with that barrier, they come every day excited to learn. I want my students to come to school ready to learn with the tools they need available.
My Project
I want to allow my students flexible seating options. I want them to options to move around the room while still maintaining focus to the tasks at hand.
I am choosing wobble stools and calming cushions to assist in my flexible seating adventure.
I feel that these products will offer my students comfort and needed change throughout the long school day.
It is not realistic to expect five and six year old children to spend the majority of their day in a hard, plastic chair. By allowing these options, I hope my students will remain comfortable, focused, and engaged with the use of these classroom tools.
