All the students come from all kinds of backgrounds. My students are driven and are always curious to learn more. Some have never gotten the chance to be outside of their own city. Cities that we read about are just dreams for them. History can seem so dry but they deserve to see it come alive and see those things that before were only pictures in textbooks. My students love history and they should be able to experience it hands-on.
My Project
This project with help 4th and 7th graders experience the state capital as well as the Bullock Museum. For most of these kids it will be the first time that they have been that far away from Dallas and get to experience history hands on. So far we have studied how the government of Texas works and since they will be in session there is a chance that the students will get to meet the state representatives from our area that they may hear about. This will bring history alive for them and give them an amazing opportunity to see things that are in their textbooks. Students will get to visit the capital as well as several other historical sites.
