My Students

Our students come from diverse backgrounds. The community is small and very close-knit. The students come to school eager and excited to learn.

Many of our students feel like school is the one place where they feel safe and loved!

Everyone in our school helps to make it feel like a community. The kids know that we care about them! They come to school to be part of our family. The most important part of our day is morning meeting. This is our chance to listen and share. We build a community in our room by greeting one another and making everyone feel included and respected.

My Project

Next year I will have 25 first grade students. My current rug does not have enough room to adequately hold that many students. I am excited to have a big class but also planning to make it successful! Children need to feel like they belong and are important. We use carpet time for most of our day. I am hoping to have this new rug for them in the fall on the first day! We plan to use the carpet for reading, math, morning meeting and brain breaks. Having a large rug will give each child their own spot to feel included.
