This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a large urban district in Wisconsin. All of the students in my school receive free breakfast and lunch. My three year old students attend a full day Head Start program. Although I teach regular education, I usually have three to four special ed students each year.
My students come to school eager and ready to learn.
They also have very short attention spans and need a variety of different activities throughout the day. Children learn best when they are actively engaged with age appropriate materials.
My Project
My students need different types of manipulatives for building structures to gain problem solving skills as well as social emotional skills. By working together to create projects, my babies will begin to learn about turn-taking, sharing, compromising, and cooperating with others.
These very important life skills can begin to be taught now, with the proper materials!
The Magna Tiles will encourage turn-taking, cooperation and compromise because my students will work together in small groups to create structures of their own choosing.
The storage basket will allow my students to sort the objects for easy clean up. The basket also allows the classroom to be a clean, organized and inviting place to be. We would greatly appreciate your support for this project!
