Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is made up of 24 first graders who come excited to learn everyday. Our school is a low-income, high needs campus and I'm proud of the work my students achieve every day as learners and as people. (and for the most part do it with a smile on their faces!). The students enjoy writing, reading, and math. The students are learning to collaborate in small groups and working together to achieve their learning goals.
My students are special because they are eager to learn and are proud of their accomplishments each day and especially by the end of the school year.
For some students, I was their kindergarten teacher last year. So this year is especially special as I will get to see their academic growth and social growth from the beginning of kindergarten to the end of first grade.
My Project
I added Trade Quest Letter Size Clipboard Low Profile Clip Hardboard (Pack of 30) to the wishlist because it will be useful for students to switch it up and get out of their seat to do a lesson. We do some of our math instruction on the carpet, and clipboards would be beneficial for the students to take notes, and complete tasks during the lesson. Clipboards would also be used during writing to complete two to three column notes with teacher and take back to their seats to complete their writing prompt independently.
Another important item on my wishlist is the Soft Seats because we are doing more small group work and these will make seating more comfortable and fun when they are on the carpet.
