Do you remember what it was like on your first day of Kindergarten? You were full of excitement and couldn't wait to learn how to read. Books were displayed around the classroom just waiting for you to pick it up and open its cover.
I teach Kindergarten at an elementary school in CA.
My students are full of questions and eager to learn. They love to open up books and look at the pictures. By the end of the year my students are reading short vowel books and have learned that reading is a lot of fun!
My Project
These book displays would be an amazing addition to my classroom. I can create a theme book display, which would go along with the theme we are focusing on that month. It would give a focus to a group of books.
Also, by receiving the book display for big books, I would no longer have to store them in cabinets. My students would be able to use them any day of the week. Kindergarteners light up when they see their first big book and love laying on the ground reading them. All of my students should be able to have access to them. This display would make that happen.
This project is very important.
It is so important to get students to fall in love with reading at an early age and Kindergarten is the perfect age. Books should not be placed in boxes. They should be displayed all over the classroom. So that the young inspired readers can reach them, pick one up, and start reading. Currently, I do not have a place to display my books. With your help I can create a book loving environment for my young students and show them that reading is fun!
