I teach kindergarten in a public school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds but they are all curious and ready to learn. They come to me each day full of questions and we work together to answer those questions. They have taught me that asking questions is the beginning of the learning process. Their ingenuity and creative problem solving skills inspire me to see the world differently.
One of our goals in kindergarten is to become a fluent reader.
We have a classroom library that has become tattered from years of use from many eager readers. I would love to provide my students with new books to further their love of reading. I feel so lucky to spend my days with such an amazing group of young people and would love to spark their love of reading. Reading is a skill that they will use for the rest of their lives.
My Project
My students love learning about the world around them through reading! As kindergarteners, they are beginning the journey of becoming lifelong readers. The books in our classroom library have been used by many children and are missing pages and falling apart. I would love for my students to have the opportunity to open a brand new book and immerse themselves in a new world!
By donating to our project, you will give my students an opportunity to learn to love reading which one of the biggest predictors of academic success!
The book collections that Scholastic Book Clubs offer include a diverse set of books for all readers. My students will love reading these new books!
