My students need a comfortable place to sit and relax while reading. These comfy pillows will fit great in the classroom and will allow scholars to be more eager to read and enjoy a great book!

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students have learned how to read and are working to read to learn. Unfortunately, lots of my students are faced with challenges outside of school and our school has become a safe place for many of my students. With these challenges, students are faced with little access to resources that could help them be more successful in the classroom. Every day we work together to grow our brains and be college ready!

The students in my classroom are very eager learners!

Their curious minds allows them to venture out to explore new and exciting things. They are always sharing fun facts about themselves and activities they've done with their family and friends. They enjoy singing everyday in their music class and participate in after school activities provided from the school for a greater enrichment. These skills are valuable to the scholars and build character throughout the day.

I really enjoy my class and what the students have to offer. The best thing about my students is seeing that light bulb go off and they have figured out assignments on their own. The best joy is letting go of the training wheels and have them venture out on their own.

My Project

In our classroom, scholars are allowed to read at their desk or on the carpet. The carpet will be removed as the scholars grow and the desk are not as comfortable to sit in for a long period of time. Having these chairs will allow scholar to feel comfortable when they are reading.

A comfortable area will allow scholars to stay focused on their reading.

Having these pillows in the classroom will bring a fun environment to the classroom. These pillows will be located in the library area of the classroom and scholars will have access to sit and read any book of their choice. The pillows will also serve as a down time for scholars who just needs a little break from all the activity occurring during the school day.

These pillows will improve the reading area by making scholars eager to participate in a reading activity. I'm hoping these pillows will also shed light on the importance of having a comfortable area for reading.
