My students are a very special and unique group of young people. They all have special needs of different kinds. They all require hands on assistance to function in daily tasks, learning, and play. The Life Skills classrooms provide our students with daily living skills, job skills, personal care, and fundamental learning. Their spirit is amazing and infectious to everyone at our school and in our community.

My Project
Our classroom needs are focused on the walls to bring our room to life. We will use the felt in our classroom to make bulletin boards. The felt boards will be a backdrop for highlighting projects, creating a reading center, and displaying classroom learning objectives.
A classroom wall whiteboard will give my students an opportunity to interact with the teacher during lessons or independently work in front of the class.
This interaction will help them build self confidence at the board. They will be able to express themselves freely with dry erase makers without fear of mistakes. A special needs student often learns differently and needs certain accommodations. A vertical writing surface can open new doors for special needs students to communicate.
