Unified Sports bring Special Olympic athletes and partners together to play, learn, and compete.
Our school is a Unified Champion School which means that we promote healthy living through leadership, sports, and socialization.
To increase our involvement, we have introduced a Basketball team. As this team debuts, there are initial costs that can help the student-athletes focus on competing and not fundraising. The athletes on the team range in academic ability levels from intellectual disabilities to students taking international baccalaureate classes. Few athletes have formal basketball experience, others simply are encouragers to their friends. Our diverse school will provide healthy options for all students with consistent practices and fun competition!
My Project
Our school is continuing the journey to be more inclusive. We are doing this through team sports, student leadership, and whole-school engagement. Our next step on this journey is establishing a weekly basketball practice.
Unified Sports is changing our school.
Help us grow our program with basic basketball equipment, such as basketballs, pennies, and training markers. A cart will allow athletes to take items to the gym across campus with ease.
Special Olympic athletes and student partners will work together to train and compete. Not only will points be scored, but friendships will grow. Healthy choices will be emphasized through exercise and structured social skills opportunities.
