Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These materials will help make our library an EXTRA SPECIAL place for our students to visit. Before this year, our school hadn't had a library in over a DECADE! Now, we want it to be as beautiful as possible. The materials like the hanging plants, the aromadiffuser, and the posters will be used to improve our space and make it friendly. The black history read alouds will be used to read to students. The projector and projector screen will be used to present information on the library! Students at our school come from majority low-income households, and our school funding does not provide enough support for what our students deserve. With these materials, I can make the library a safe, supportive and fun place for students to learn.
Students have library class once a week, and every other we participate in Rainbow Club during Library time.
Rainbow club is a space where students can express their identities freely, and some of these materials, such as the beads arts and crafts, will be used for those activities. I am really excited to give students exciting opportunities for arts, crafts, and literacy!
