There is so much I can say about my students. They are all eager to learn and so very talented! Many of my students enter my music room ready to learn and excited about what we will discover next. I want to empower my students to dream and believe that they can achieve any dream and accomplish any goal.
My students do not have much but they do a lot with what they have.
I teach in a Title I school and most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Most of my students only get to play musical instruments in my music room and have little formal music instruction.
My Project
This year is bringing new challenges to our music room. I am blessed to have a large room, but it will be a new challenge to keep my students space out and our instruments and materials clean. Every week, I can see over 600 students come through my music room.
These materials will help me make our music room safe.
The cones and masking tape will allow me to have stations for each child so they can stay socially distant. Ziploc bags will allow me to make kits of materials so each student can have individual materials. Of course, we need lots of hand sanitizer for hands. The tubs and dish drainers will help me clean our instruments daily so they are ready for a new group the next day. These items will help me keep our music room safe while keeping music education alive in our school.
