My school serves 250 PreK-5th graders. The school is in a high poverty area. The majority of the students come from at-risk families and homes. My school is 98% free or reduced lunch. My school is a safe place for students. They look forward to coming to school each day. Teachers at my school inspire students to be their very best every day.
My students are curious, energetic, fun, kind, and hard-working.
They love interacting and collaborating. Teachers and staff at my school are always looking for ways to inspire, motivate, and engage all students.
My Project
Our library is the cornerstone of our school. It is amazing to see students light up at discovering a new treasure within a text. As the school's teacher librarian, I have worked very hard in developing a well-rounded library to include both fiction and nonfiction texts that suit students of all reading abilities and interests.
Having a neat, organized library is essential to ensuring student interest in the books, and buy-in with ownership of helping to maintain it.
A library that looks cohesive and put-together shows that this is a place of importance in our school, and when that is established, students and staff will treat it as such.
These shelf label holders and sign holders will assist students and staff finding books. They will also build excitement. These resources will make our library more beautiful and inviting.
