Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are extremely diverse learners with varying reading levels, ethnic backgrounds, language ability, and learning preferences. Nearly all of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch and face many hurdles at home, on the way to school, and after school that they overcome each day they attend school. Our students commute from many areas in the Bronx, some on hour long bus rides to school everyday. Many are employed after school or on the weekend. Many have significant responsibilities at home or are responsible for their siblings.
Despite all of this, our students come to school eager to learn, especially since they receive valuable STEM classes at BAHS.
My Project
I am requesting a Cricut machine for my classroom to allow me to create a welcoming classroom environment for my students. The Cricut machine allows one to easily create beautifully cut out decorations that can be used around the classroom and on bulletin boards.
The Cricut machine will allow me to more easily create beautiful bulletin boards to showcase and celebrate my students' work.
As someone who is not traditionally artistically talented, a Cricut machine would allow me to create charts and signs for my classroom that are beautiful and most importantly, legible! Our students and staff in the classroom thrive in a beautiful welcoming environment and would greatly appreciate the addition of the Cricut machine to our classroom tools!
