My Students

Hello! Second grade is such an interesting year. Students start off the year as young children, still learning the ropes of school life. They grow over the year from learning to read to reading to learn through a variety of activities designed to meet their needs.

My second graders love creating, researching, and learning all about the world around them.

They love learning about the world outside of their community and how different life can be in other parts of the world. As their English language arts teacher, we explore a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction books and write narrative, persuasive, and informational pieces on subjects we find intriguing.

My Project

Science and social studies are one of the main subject areas, yet with so much focus on math and reading in the primary grades, many times these subject areas get put on the backburner. Therefore, the materials needed for these subjects are not replenished and curriculums may not be appropriate.

My goal is to change the way science and social studies are seen in the primary grades by adding the engaging program of Brain Pop Jr.

Brain Pop Jr. is a fabulous subscription website with a variety of videos, interactive activities, and assessments not only for science and social studies but also for social skills, health, arts, technology, English language arts, and math. Videos featuring Moby and Annie explain concepts in an effective and unique way to help students meet our standards.

Brain Pop Jr. would be a valuable source for my classroom. Please consider donating to my project and making a difference in my students' lives today.
