My Students

There's no place like home and home to my students is located in a very rural setting with many, many miles between them and modern day conveniences. Our school is a Pre-K through 12th grade building providing education for 130 students. My students are eager learners at the prime age to begin to develop independency and responsibility. Living rurally, there is a lack of technology in the classroom to develop successful, independent, and responsible 21st century leaders and problem solvers.

My Project

BrainPOP Jr. is a multimedia tool that enhances student learning in all subject areas. I have used BrainPOP Jr. with previous classrooms of students who have loved and asked, "Do we get to watch a Brainpop today?!" Students are introduced to content through exciting and engaging characters; Annie and Moby, who make learning fun.

The information is presented in words, pictures, and sound making it more effective than one of those three modalities alone.

The content is aligned to academic standards and the Common Core. Integrating BrainPOP Jr. into the classroom allows for the needs all of learners to be met. Students are also able to participate in their learning by using the interactive quizzes that are designed to check for understanding of the information presented in a short, animated movie.
