My students need basic classroom supplies to be able to access them curriculum on a daily basis. Most of all they need poster- making materials to be able to see a visual synthesis of the material. WE need poster boards, laminating pouches and more.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are thoughtful, bright, and creative middle schoolers who carry various Social/Emotional diagnoses. Often their emotional and behavioral challenges make it hard for them to focus and access academic instruction, making them prone to frustration, shutdown , and/ or aggression. These students are working on identifying their triggers as well as building their toolkits (coping/classroom skills).
These students face a host of organic and environmental challenges.
Without the right supports, these students are considered high risk for academic failure.
My Project
My students need basic materials such as poster-making supplies, cleaning supplies, and laminating pouches in order to more concretely access the curriculum. Currently all of these costs are funded out of pocket, and when I am unable to do so, my students go without.
These materials are top-quality, colorful, and will keep them engaged with the science and social studies curriculum.
Students are often encouraged to make posters to demonstrate their knowledge of a Science or Social Studies concept, however they may not have the funds for the materials to do so. Students need markers to illustrate the food webs they aren’t learning about in science, to make maps for social studies, and so much more!
These students often feel marginalized, and they love knowing that donors in our community have supported their classroom and their learning. Our past projects get them excited about learning, and I cant wait to see how these materials will help them continue to learn and grow.
