My Students

The general music and choir students are enthusiastic and excited to learn about all different kinds of music. We listen to music and create our own songs through different projects. Many of the students have come here from other countries; some of them are running from bad situations and had to live in refugee camps as they made their way out of their country to come to America.

Our school is located in a suburb of Chicago and has an over fifty percent poverty level.

We are a very diverse school community and there are always so many different ideas brought into the classroom every trimester which encourages some very diverse conversations. The music class provides a learning experience that is very important in everyday life.

My Project

The mini piano keyboards we have are extremely old and die very quickly. They drain battery power and often don't work. I need more keyboards for all my students. Students learn how to play basic piano songs or can advance their skills if they have already taken piano lessons. The glockenspiels are useful for my sixth grade students when we create our own arrangements of childhood songs.

By donating to our project, you will help all students have an opportunity to advance their musical skills through hands-on experience.

With class sizes growing, students sometimes need to share instruments and don't get as much time to enhance their skills on their own.
