Kids learn more when they are having fun! My students will master more skills, and have fun doing it, with math games and stations.
Entering fifth grade two to three grades levels behind is a huge challenge, but one in which my students embrace head-on.
My students work hard everyday to become stronger mathematicians.
My students attend a rural kindergarten to twelfth grade school in North Carolina. Our school is a college preparatory school for students in a traditionally under served area of our state. My students are passionate about their education, attending school from 8:00am-5:00pm and some Saturdays. Over 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch and over 80% will be first generation college graduates. My students are fired up about learning and know that impossible is nothing.
My Project
Studies show that students who play games learn and retain more. One of the biggest struggles for my 5th graders is solving word problems. I am requesting games to practice solving word problems, which will be an engaging way to practice this skill. I am also requesting math stations, where my students will be able to practice and master skills through games with teammates. My students will have even more fun learning with these games and stations.
Your donation can help change students perspective of math.
Students who struggle often develop a dislike or fear of math. When students are playing games, they are mastering skills while having fun. Help my students become even stronger mathematicians!
