Teaching in a low-income, Title I School, my students are urging to feel a sense of belonging and community. Despite all of the challenges my students face, I like to feel like I am a safe haven for them. Someone who will talk to them, listen to them, and care about them. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
Our class goal this year is to strive to do our best and these students have truly been giving their best every day.
I have an amazing group of Kindergarten students who are ready to come to school eager to learn.
I can't wait for my students to dive into these games. Students are often intimidated by math. If we can make math fun, students will gain a life long love for math.
When math is fun and tactile, students are more likely to retain the knowledge and truly grasp the concept, not just memorize it.
This number sense is critical in kindergarten because it lays the framework for the rest of a child's school career and beyond.
The activities I have included that will help students in stations will feature Unlock It, Tens Frames Games and Magnetic Fish. Stations that any five year old would be eager to get their hands on.
