Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 29 wonderful 5th grade students, which include special education students, magnet students, English Language Learners, and intervention students. They are very enthusiastic about learning and are always eager to explore new things.
The children love coming to school every day, and always have a big smile on their faces, despite the socioeconomic hardships they endure in the community in which they live.
They attend a school in California, in a low-income neighborhood. The school is both a regular and highly gifted/magnet institution. However, my students are part of the regular school and do not have access to the materials and enrichment activities that the magnet students have.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will help my students to master the reading and math skills they need to go to the next grade. The Reading Centers Resources will be used during our small group instruction to reinforce the skills they are learning in class through fun and engaging games and activities. In addition, the Math Interactive Journal Bundle and Math Centers Resources will also be used during small group instruction to boost their math skills so they are ready for sixth grade.
I strongly believe that students learn better and retain more information when they are immersed in activities that are fun, entertaining and meaningful.
The resources we are requesting will do just that.
